Safety note: Brake handles PARATECH Evolution |

 The brake handles of the type PARATECH “Evolution” as shown on the picture which have been supplied after May 1, 2007 have a manufacturing defect in their swivel links: the two holes of this swivel link have been badly rounded off and deburred.
The black cord fastening it to the handle and the colored main brake line can be damaged and onsiderably weakened where they pass through the swivel link holes, which might lead to the failure of the link between the brake handle and the main brake line. A sign indicating the beginning of this process even after slight use is the partial fraying of the lines where they pass through the swivel link holes, as shown in the second and third picture. In agreement with the DHV the manufacturer PARATECH takes the following safety measures: Before the next flight, the brake handles have to be inspected for possible damages as described above: 1. If any damage to the lines is detected, the handles have to be replaced before the next flight. 2. If no visible damages are apparent but the brake handles or the paraglider were purchased after May 1, 2007, they may still be used until the replacement handles arrive, but they have to be checked before each flight. |

Police I.D. man who killed himself while fleeing in 'powerchute' |

The man who took off from Eagle Mountain in a powered parachute after firing a gun near his wife and children is believed to have later shot himself to death in the air, the Utah County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
The man, identified as 42-year-old Greg Kehl from Eagle Mountain, crashed 10 miles away from American Fork.
Police said Kehl was arguing with his wife about 5:30 p.m. when he tried to take off in a "powerchute." His wife took the key to the motorized parachute, prompting Kehl to fire a shot into the ground with a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver, said Lt. Dennis Harris. The wife gave back the key, and Kehl took off.
People spotted Kehl's powered parachute - a three-wheel contraption that weighs 450 to 500 pounds - flying over Highland Park, Highland Alpine Country Club and Tri-City Golf Course and heard a pop that was presumably the fatal shot Kehl fired, Harris said.
Kehl then crashed about 6:15 p.m. in a field behind a home near 1470 North and 70 East in American Fork.
Deputies are still looking for the gun, Harris said. |

New World Record in Paramotor |
Ramon Morillas’ world record for distance on a paramotor has been broken in Mexico by Fernando Iriarte. Fernando took of at 7.15 in the morning from Puerto Vallata, Jalisco and headed in a northerly direction with favourable winds. By one in the afternoon he had flown over 500km and was on target to gain the record. He evetually touched down at 9:08pm in the Bay of Kino, Sonoro after flying for 13 hours and 53 minutes and having covered 1,144 km beating the previous record of 1,106 km. The flight details will be sent to the FAI for ratification.

On Monday 6.8.2007, two members of KJP Krokar, Tomaž Eržen(pilot) and Tanja Kompan(copilot), set new WR in discipline out-and-return with tandem.
They launched from Lajnar near Sorica, flew to Mt.Piobada in Italy and flew back to starting point of Lajnar. Flight took them 8h and 20 min and was 160 km long.
Previous record in this dicipline was also set by a member of KJP Krokar Peljhan Klemen with same copilot and was 154 km long. For official record we will have to wait for LZS and FAI to accept it.
Same as Klemen before him, Tomaž also flew with Mac Para glider but with never model, this time with Pasha 3.
